Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4
Overview Statement: The grief ministry aids persons who are grieving by helping them with the fundamentals of coping with grief; assisting the bereaved family through prayer, phone calls, visitation: and partnering with the family in preparation for general funeral arrangements. The grief ministry ultimately provides care and comfort in the time of great need and helps loved ones cope with their loss.
Components of the Grief Ministry:
Immediate Care: When the church is notified that a loved one has passed, the grief ministry will immediately respond to the family. This response may include praying with the family, visitation, babysitting young ones during the funeral services, and clean up after the funeral service has concluded.
Long-Term Counseling: One week after the funeral service, a member of the grief ministry will follow up with the grieving family member(s) to assess whether long term counseling is needed. If long term counseling is needed, the member(s) will be referred to the appropriate ministry.
Grief Memorial Service: The grief memorial services are held in May and December. The May service honors and pays tribute to those who have passed away. The December service celebrates Faith, Hope and Healing in the midst of grief and loss.
Meetings: The grief ministry meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.
